Better Ladders Mod Updated to Fix Climbing, Object Carrying, and Burglar Behavior

Amethyst Lilac published an update to Better Ladders on Simblr on April 4, restoring several behaviors that had stopped working correctly following The Sims 4's March 2026 physics and animation patches. The mod, originally authored by Arckange as part of the Lot 51 project ecosystem, now allows Sims to climb ladders while carrying objects, including toddlers and infants, closing a long-standing gap in base-game behavior that made vertical builds more frustrating than functional for builders and storytellers.

The update ships in two variants: one that removes the auto slide-down behavior and one that preserves it. Both files speed up the climbing animation and remove the block that previously prevented burglars from using ladders at all. That last change was deliberate. Amethyst Lilac wrote that burglars "would want to get around your house and escape as quickly as possible," making ladder access the realistic choice for any intruder worth their lock-pick.

Installing the update requires Lot 51's Core Library as a new dependency. Amethyst Lilac moved to this shared library model to reduce the number of direct overrides the mod requires, a structural decision that improves compatibility with other mods touching climbing mechanics. For players running extensive mod lists, that kind of architectural choice matters as much as the feature changes themselves.

Only one variant should be installed at a time, and the mod will conflict with any other ladder-altering mods already in a Mods folder. The Simblr listing includes direct download links, a changelog, and cross-links to related utility mods Amethyst Lilac uploaded on the same date.

To install: grab the Lot 51 Core Library first, swap out the old Better Ladders .package file for the updated version, and test on a save before committing to a longer session. The compatibility-first approach here makes that process considerably cleaner than previous versions required.
