More Traditions update adds 40 custom holidays to The Sims 4

More Traditions got a June 12 update that makes one of The Sims 4’s most practical holiday mods even more useful for routine play. The patch adds around 40 traditions and fixes a long-standing loophole in knitting, cross stitching, and painting, so Sims now have to finish the piece before the tradition counts. That small change pushes holidays and household rules away from checklist behavior and toward rituals that actually feel earned.

The new traditions widen the game’s everyday storytelling range in a way legacy saves and family saves can use immediately. Power Clean, Waffles, Manicure and Pedicure, Sledding, Skiing, Snowboarding, Vacuuming, Chess, Dartboard, and Hopscotch all give players more specific ways to define what a household values. A neat-freak dynasty can build holidays around cleaning. A winter-focused save can lean into snow days and slope trips. A craft-heavy family can turn weekends into something that looks and plays differently from the default holiday setup.

That matters because The Sims 4 Seasons, released in 2018, already made traditions a core part of holiday happiness. EA’s launch material for the expansion said the more traditions a Sim finishes, the happier they will be during the holiday. More Traditions takes that idea and stretches it across far more of the game’s activities, so the holiday calendar can reflect a household’s identity instead of recycling the same handful of familiar beats.

The mod’s structure helps with that flexibility. LunarBritney said on Mod The Sims that the project started as a request from a friend for a personal save, then grew into a public release, and every tradition lives in its own package file. That means players can install only the traditions they want, rather than taking the whole set. The CurseForge page says the mod adds around 40 new traditions, has passed 7,800 downloads, and requires Seasons plus the relevant activity DLC.

That reach stretches across base game and pack content, including Cottage Living, Discover University, Eco Lifestyle, Snowy Escape, Horse Ranch, Spa Day, Businesses and Hobbies, Adventure Awaits, and Life and Death. CurseForge’s file history also shows a prior update on May 16 before the June 12 patch. For players who want holidays to feel less like a repeating menu and more like a family with its own habits, More Traditions keeps turning the same old calendar into something more specific, more personal, and a lot harder to flatten into routine.
