New See-Through Lattice Walls Mod Adds Airy Dividers for Sims Builders

Xetto's free lattice mod for The Sims fixes the classic porch problem: two package files let builders choose dense or sparse patterns for walls that actually let light through.

The biggest frustration with building porches and gazebos in The Sims is the wall itself. Place a standard solid wall and the whole structure closes in, blocking sightlines, killing the open-air feel, and making a charming pergola look like a bunker. Creator Xetto published a direct fix for this on Mod The Sims on March 27, with two purpose-built package files that swap opacity for lattice patterning while still functioning as proper walls in Build Mode.

The upload contains a Dense Lattice Wall and a Sparse Lattice Wall, each with its own texture and visual weight. That two-option structure is the practical core of the release: dense suits covered porches and greenhouse frames where you want clear structure without full enclosure, while the sparse version works for open garden dividers and decorative fencing-adjacent builds where visual breathing room is the point. Both register as standard wall coverings, meaning they tile and snap exactly as built-in walls do, and apply cleanly to existing lots without additional object placement.

The see-through quality runs both ways. Because the lattice reads as permeable from both the interior and exterior camera angles, sightlines stay intact regardless of which side your Sim or your camera is on. That bilateral transparency is what separates this from a simple texture swap and what makes it genuinely useful for open-plan outdoor spaces, gazebo interiors, and the kinds of detailed garden structures that collapse visually the moment a solid wall enters the frame.

Builders working around compatibility concerns get a meaningful advantage here too. Because the files are packaged as wall coverings rather than script mods, they carry a low risk profile against future game patches. No scripts means no breakage cycles, and opting out is as simple as pulling the package file. Xetto noted the content was previously available through early access on Patreon before the public release went live, which means real-world build testing had already occurred before the files reached the wider community.

The timing of the release, dropping in late March during a period when builders have been paying close attention to mod compatibility after earlier patches, makes the non-script format an even cleaner sell. Paired with the railing and planter options that have appeared in recent official updates, these lattice walls give outdoor builders a stronger structural vocabulary for porches, wraparound verandas, and garden rooms without adding any meaningful load to their Mods folder.
