The Sims adds hotfix for Create a Sim and controller scroll bugs
A small hotfix will tackle CAS, eyedropper, and controller scroll bugs after console players reported progress-killing lockups in Create a Sim.

When Create a Sim locks up on a controller, the whole save can stall before a household is even built. The Sims Direct said a small base game update is set to go out tomorrow, May 21, to fix reported issues with Create a Sim, the eyedropper tool, and controller scrolling, and the team said testing has been completed across platforms.
The timing matters for console players in particular. On the EA Forums, PS5 users described a bug where the controller stopped responding in Create a Sim, leaving them unable to select anything or exit the screen. Similar complaints also surfaced from Xbox players, and some of the posts tied to the issue went back years, which is why even a narrow hotfix lands as more than a minor tune-up for players who build, edit, and restart households constantly.

EA had already flagged the problem in public on May 13, saying it was actively investigating console scrolling issues in Create a Sim. The new update follows a much larger May 12 patch for The Sims 4, which shipped as version 1.124.55.1030 on PC, 1.124.55.1230 on Mac, and version 2.33 on console. That patch brought more than 150 bug fixes, addressed more than ten issues from the community’s top twenty bugs list, and added new Backup Saves redundancy options with day, week, and monthly settings.
That same May 12 update also added a new base-game Infant Playmat and the Base Layers feature in Create a Sim, a reminder that the game’s biggest updates often land alongside the tools players use most often. For builders, legacy storytellers, and anyone who spends time cycling through outfits and presets, the difference between a smooth CAS session and a broken one can decide whether a play night continues or ends at the loading screen.
The latest hotfix shows where player trust gets won back, one small fix at a time. When a controller scroll bug or a stalled eyedropper stops the most common building and character-creation tools from working, the fix is not small to the people who feel it first.
