A dispute tied to money and business dealings turned a busy Carrollton shopping center into a crime scene, and police say Seung Ho Han later admitted he was the gunman. Investigators said the violence began after a meeting at K Towne Plaza in the city’s Koreatown district, where Han and the victims had gathered for business purposes before shots were fired.

Officers were first sent to the 4000 block of State Highway 121 at about 9:57 a.m. on May 5, 2026, after multiple 911 calls reported a shooting with several victims. When police arrived, they found four people with gunshot wounds. One man died at the scene, while three others were rushed to hospitals in stable condition. About two hours later, at 11:13 a.m., police received another shooting report in the 2700 block of Old Denton Road, where they found another dead adult male inside an apartment. Investigators later determined the two scenes were connected.

Police said Han was responsible for both shootings. He was arrested after a short foot chase near Old Denton Road and President George Bush Turnpike, then interviewed by investigators. According to police, Han confessed to shooting all five victims and said the attack grew out of anger over financial disputes connected to business dealings. One account described a failed $75,000 business deal involving a sushi restaurant and a property investment in Georgia. Another report said Han had given $70,000 to Edward Schleigh and $5,000 to Yo Sung Kim, and that a rent agreement later fell apart. A separate account said Han went to H Mart to say goodbye to friends and had been planning to take his own life before his arrest.

The dead were identified as 63-year-old Sung Rae Cho of Denton County and Edward Schleigh. The wounded victims were identified as Olivia Kim, Yo Sung Kim, and Young Yoo. Han was charged with capital murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and no bond was set on the warrant.

The killings shook Carrollton’s Korean community, where more than 4,000 residents are of Korean descent. On May 6, community leaders gathered at the Korean Cultural Center of Dallas and the Korean Association of Dallas to mourn the victims, urge healing, and stress that the attack was not a hate crime and not a random act of gunfire. Flowers and memorials began piling up as families faced the aftermath of a shooting that police say started as a private dispute and ended in public bloodshed.
