A suspicious-person call on Ruby Road ended with Fayetteville police finding 63-year-old Nadine Seeney Dove dead inside an unsecured home on Abrams Street, and the man they detained led them there himself.

The Fayetteville Police Department said officers responded at about 1:49 a.m. on April 29, 2026, after reports of a suspicious person on the 4500 block of Ruby Road. Officers made contact with Orlando Montague Pone, 53, of Fayetteville, and police said he was taken into custody before leading investigators to a residence on the 1000 block of Abrams Street.

When officers entered the home, they found Dove dead inside with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. Police said the residence was unsecured when they went in, a detail that underscores how quickly the encounter on Ruby Road shifted into a homicide investigation. Dove was later identified as a Fayetteville resident, and police confirmed that her next of kin had been notified.

Pone was charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center. Police have not publicly said what connection, if any, Pone had to Dove beyond noting that the relationship between them remained under active investigation. The precise circumstances of the killing were also still being examined, leaving key questions open about what happened inside the home before officers arrived.

The path from a suspicious-person call to a body in a separate residence gave the case an unusual, step-by-step arc that investigators were still trying to piece together. Police asked anyone with information to contact Detective D. Jackson at (910) 751-9363. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-TIPS, or through the P3 Tips app. Detectives are still working to reconstruct how the night on Ruby Road led to a fatal stabbing on Abrams Street.
