Four Arrested in Long Beach Double Homicide Near 710 Freeway
Two men were found shot to death near Compton Creek under the 710 Freeway; four suspects have been arrested in a months-long Long Beach homicide probe, a step toward accountability.

Two men were found shot to death near a portion of Compton Creek under the 710 Freeway in Long Beach, and police have arrested four people in connection with the killings. The victims were identified as Luis Parra, 45, and Josue Pacheco, 24. Both had gunshot wounds to the upper body and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Long Beach police say the bodies were discovered after Long Beach Fire Department personnel located a subject in the area; officers arrived in the evening and found two adult men suffering upper-body gunshot wounds. Initial reports place the discovery at roughly 8:36 to 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2025. Investigators launched a homicide probe and pursued leads across Los Angeles County for months before making arrests in January 2026.
Police identified Jesus Arredondo, 40, of Carson, as a suspect. LBPD said, "Through their ongoing investigation, Homicide detectives identified Jesus Arredondo, a 40-year-old resident of Carson, as the suspect in the murder." Arredondo was taken into custody in mid-January and was booked for murder; booking records reviewed by local authorities show Arredondo is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Three other people were arrested in connection with the case: a 17-year-old Carson resident who was taken into custody on Jan. 9, 2026; Timothy Garcia, 35, of Harbor City, arrested in mid-January; and Stephen Lee Talbot, 42, of Los Angeles, whose arrest date is reported as either Jan. 15 or Jan. 16 in different records. Arrest locations listed in police reports include the 200 block of W. Torrance Boulevard in Carson for the juvenile, the 900 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Compton for Garcia, and the 2100 block of S. Patton Street in San Pedro for Talbot. Booking records show the three were held on bail amounts of $2 million each and were booked on charges described in initial records as aiding someone who committed a felony; those booking descriptions and formal charges remain subject to confirmation with prosecutors.
Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish praised detectives' work, saying, "These arrests exemplify the focus, expertise, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by our Homicide detectives in ensuring suspects are held accountable for their actions," and, "I want to commend them for their thorough investigation and successful apprehension of the suspects believed responsible for these unacceptable acts of violence."
The arrests cap a months-long probe by LBPD Homicide and Special Investigation detectives. Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, and officials say additional investigative steps and charging decisions are pending.
Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to come forward. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through LA Crime Stoppers by calling 800-222-TIPS, using the P3 Tips app, or visiting the LA Crime Stoppers website.
What comes next for the community is confirmation of formal charges from the district attorney and court proceedings that could clarify roles and motive. For neighbors and those who use the creek area, the arrests are a reminder to report suspicious activity promptly and to expect continued police presence while investigators and prosecutors build the case.
