Fourteen years is a long time to wait for justice. For the families of Pedro Perez and Andre Thompson, that wait ended on March 23, 2026, when Little Rock police served capital murder warrants on two men connected to a pair of 2012 cold-case homicides that had gone unsolved for more than a decade.

Detectives identified Jevon Baker, 33, and Deonta Marshall, 31, as suspects in the April 2012 shooting death of Pedro Perez, 36, at 11500 Chicot Road. Police had responded to reports of a shooting at that location on April 4, 2012, and found Perez dead. The case sat cold for 14 years before investigators finally moved.

Baker was arrested by the Stuttgart Police Department and served with a warrant for capital murder on Monday, March 23, 2026. Officers of the Stuttgart Police Department took Baker in and transported him to the Major Crimes Division in Little Rock. Baker was being held in the Pulaski County jail without bond.

Marshall's situation heading into warrant service was already complicated. Authorities served warrants the same day on Marshall, who is in the Ouachita River Unit in Malvern serving an eight-year sentence on two counts of first-degree domestic battery. The capital murder warrant was served while he remained in that facility, and the court record reflects the weight of what he now faces: Marshall faces two capital murder counts and Baker faces one. Neither man had entered a formal plea as of Tuesday afternoon.

The second capital murder count against Marshall connects him to a separate killing. Authorities also linked Marshall to the June 2012 killing of Andre Thompson, 27, at 5011 Mabelvale Pike. That shooting occurred on June 5, 2012, just two months after the Chicot Road killing, making Marshall a suspect in both crimes from that same bloody year.

In a post to their X profile, police say the arrests came as a result of collaboration between Cold Case and Homicide Detectives. LRPD Cold Case and Homicide Detectives collaborated to solve the cold case and will continue working together to solve even more.

For the true crime community, the Baker-Marshall case is a reminder that cold cases don't always stay cold forever, even when the trail has gone quiet for 14 years. Two victims, two suspects, three capital murder counts, and a joint detective unit that kept digging until it had names to put on warrants.
