Authorities and Holland America Line confirmed in late November that Ann Evans had been located after she did not reboard the Rotterdam following an organized island tour in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten on Nov. 20. A missing person alert was issued on Nov. 26, and investigators said contact was made in the days that followed. The Rotterdam had made multiple Caribbean stops and was scheduled to return on Nov. 28.

The Police Force of Sint Maarten, known as KPSM, said investigators had reason to believe a woman matching Evans' description checked into a hotel on the French side of the island and had been seen in that area. In keeping with privacy and personal data protection laws, the police said they would not release additional information about the individual's condition or precise whereabouts. Holland America and KPSM expressed gratitude for the cooperation of local agencies, hotel staff, and members of the public who assisted during the inquiry.
