Missing Hopewell Teen Found Dead in Caroline County Pond, Four Charged

Jayden Michael McComber, 18, of Hopewell, Virginia, left his home on the 2500 block of Richmond Street on the night of March 25 and never came back. Six days later, investigators pulled his remains from Byrds Mill Pond in Sparta, Caroline County, and four people now face murder charges.

Devonti Gregory Pettaway, 20, of Chesterfield; Kennady Jade Lambert, 18, of Hopewell; Rashad Antonio Mayfield, 23, of Henrico; and Jaden Lamont Phillips, 19, of Richmond each face second-degree murder charges. Officials stated clearly that they do not believe the killing was random.

Forensic and physical evidence recovered from the pond and surrounding search areas ties all four suspects to the crime scene.
