Diablo IV Season 12 begins March 10 with Killstreaks, pre-expansion focus
Blizzard’s 2.6.0 PTR previews a five-tier Killstreak system that awards experience and season reputation; PCGamesN and community reporting place Season 12’s start on March 10, 2026 ahead of the April 28 expansion.

Blizzard opened the doors to its 2.6.0 PTR and set player expectations for a condensed Season 12 centered on a new Killstreak mechanic that hands out experience and seasonal reputation. The 2.6.0 Public Test Realm ran from February 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PST through February 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PST on PC Battle.net, and community and outlet reporting point to a Season 12 rollout on March 10, 2026 that would land roughly one month before The Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, 2026.
Blizzard framed Season 12 as intentionally shorter, calling it "a more focused, streamlined season that supports our broader roadmap toward launch of The Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, while still delivering a fresh, rewarding and fun experience for players." The company also wrote that "The 2.6.0 PTR will preview the foundation of the season, while more surprise features will be revealed closer to launch. As always, we are keen to hear your PTR feedback to ensure S12 is the best it can be!"
The PTR put Killstreaks into players' hands for testing. Blizzard described the PTR focus as "a vicious new Killstreak system, powerful Bloodied Items, murderous Bloody Sigils, and more." PCGamesN summed up the player-facing behavior: "The headline feature for Season 12 is a new Killstreak system, which, as it implies, provides more power and rewards if you can maintain your spree. Your streak will begin to deplete as soon as it begins, so plan your slaughter accordingly to maximize its uptime." When streaks end, PCGamesN wrote, "you'll gain experience and season rep based on the number of monsters slain, with your final streak tier providing a bonus," and warned that "Dying during a streak immediately ends it, and you won't be rewarded for your efforts." PTR summaries further explain that streaks end if you fail to kill or damage enemies for a period of time.
PTR testers saw the five-tier naming structure for Killstreaks: Killstreak, Carnage, Devastation, Bloodbath, and Massacre. The PTR also handed players seasonal content to test through GM commands and presets including "Set Level to 50", "Set Level to 60", "Unlock All Waypoints & Reveal Map", "Unlock All Torment Tiers", "Set Paragon to Level 200", "Grant Bloodied Items", and "Grant Seasonal Activity Keys (Bloodied Sigils)".
Beyond Killstreaks, the PTR previewed Bloodied Items, Bloody Sigils, and new content labels such as Sunbrand, Sundered Night, and Tempering with example entries like "Holy Light Aura Potency." Mobalytics’ PTR extract listed paragon nodes across classes that appeared for testing, including Spiritborn nodes like "In-Fighter Legendary Paragon Node" and "Bitter Medicine Legendary Paragon Node"; Barbarian nodes "Weapons Master" and "Warbringer"; Druid nodes "Lust for Carnage" and "Thunderstruck"; Necromancer nodes such as "Blood Begets Blood" and "Bloodbath"; Rogue nodes "Tricks of the Trade" and "Deadly Ambush"; and Sorcerer nodes "Burning Instinct" and "Frigid Fate." The PTR also showed Paladin skill notes including a tooltip change for Holy Light Aura that clarifies it "gains damage from attack speed" and a Sanctify tweak where "Damage now remains at 90% when selecting the upgrade."
Timing remains partly inferred: Blizzard’s PTR materials confirmed only a March window while PCGamesN and forum chatter place the season rollover on March 10, 2026 with estimated launch times of 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST / 7pm CEST / 3am AEST based on Diablo IV’s typical update cadence. PTR content is explicitly "subject to change," and full numeric rules for Killstreak rewards, timers, and tier thresholds were not published in the 2.6.0 PTR excerpts; the PTR served chiefly to preview mechanics and gather feedback ahead of the April 28 expansion.
