Final Fantasy VII Remake surprise patch v1.005/v1.007 adds Revival Earrings, Survival Set

Players logging back into Final Fantasy VII Remake discovered two new freebies in the main-menu Gift Box after Square Enix released an unannounced maintenance patch on February 18, 2026. The update is labeled version 1.005 on PlayStation 5 and version 1.007 on PC, and it adds the Revival Earrings and a Survival Set without altering story content.

MP1st’s Alex Co captured the core change in his February 18 dispatch, writing, “Per Square Enix, today’s patch adds the following: The Revival Earrings and Survival Set are now available. These items can be obtained from the Gift Box accessible via the main menu.” MP1st also reports the console build string in full as “Final Fantasy 7 Remake update 1.005 (complete version 1.005.000).”

The patch does not expand the campaign or rebalance combat. Ixbt Games emphasized the limited scope, noting, “There are no other changes: the mechanics and balance have not been touched.” MP1st echoed that stance with, “There are no gameplay-related changes or adjustments in today’s patch.” Players should expect the new items only and not new missions or difficulty tweaks.

Alongside the item drop, UpdateCrazy published a patch-note style summary titled “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Update 1.005 Patch Notes (FF7 patch 1.007)” and listed stability work under improvements. UpdateCrazy’s notes state, “Stability fixes implemented to reduce crashes and errors. General gameplay performance improved for smoother responsiveness.” Those fixes are framed as quality-of-life adjustments rather than gameplay changes.

Version history details are consistent across outlets. Ixbt spelled out the platform labeling: “On PS5, the patch is designated as version 1.005, on PC – 1.007.” Driffle added that Remake advanced from a prior 1.003 build, writing, “Both the Remake and Rebirth advanced to a new version with Remake now at Version 1.005 from the previous 1.003, and Rebirth at version 1.080.”

The surprise patch arrives as Final Fantasy VII Remake’s primary narrative work has largely shifted to Rebirth and the trilogy’s concluding chapter. MP1st framed that reality bluntly: “Don’t expect much from this update, as for all intents and purposes, FF7 Remake development is done, as future story stuff continued in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the upcoming concluding chapter that has yet to be dated.” Ixbt likewise wrote, “FF7 Remake is completing its journey as a standalone game, but Square Enix continues to add small surprises.”

Readers should note this update follows earlier changes around Streamlined Progression. UpdateCrazy’s background coverage points to a prior minor update that added Streamlined Progression options to Remake with “full HP/MP, 9999 damage, and max items.” Ixbt also wrote that Rebirth owners are “waiting for the «Streamlined Progression» mode” on PS5 and PC after its planned June release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox, and that the mode “will allow you to save full character stats and constantly deal maximum damage – a variant for those who want to focus on the story.”

Driffle additionally linked recent small updates to DualSense vibration concerns, saying, “The small patch was in light of players facing issues with Sony’s DualSense controller vibrations not working properly for both games.” Driffle noted a separate December 24 update had been sizeable and tied to haptic fixes, stating that prior patch was around December 24 and referenced a 9GB download for that earlier update.
