Hearthstone Winter Playoffs Set for March 15, Nearly 200 Players Compete
Blizzard's Winter Playoffs stream begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific on March 15, with nearly 200 players from Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas fighting for Top 4 regional slots to April's Winter Championship.
After two months of fierce competition, the Hearthstone Esports season kicks off in 2026 with the Winter Playoffs!" Blizzard announced that the Winter Playoffs will broadcast on Sunday, March 15, with the stream beginning at 12:00 a.m. Pacific. Nearly 200 competitors from Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas will compete under a listed format of 4-deck, Best-of-5 Conquest with one ban as they battle for qualification to the Winter Championship in April, where the top 4 players from each region will advance.
The weekend structure separates untelevised Swiss rounds from the broadcasted Top 8: Friday and Saturday will host Swiss for all three regions and are noted as not broadcast, while Sunday will feature the Top 8 for Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas on stream. Blizzard listed Twitch and YouTube as broadcast platforms and named casters Edelweiss, Lorinda, PocketTrain, Raven, and Sottle for the live production. Viewers who tune into the Twitch stream for one hour can "Earn a CATACLYSM Pack by watching on Twitch for one hour," a drop Blizzard confirmed.
Entry to the Playoffs came through three explicit pathways: the top 50 Competitive Point earners from the Winter Competitive Season, which ran January through February; the top 4 players from each Open Qualifier during the Winter Competitive Season; and the winner of each Winter Blitz Weekend tournament. The company’s announcement framed this field as "nearly 200 of the best players from Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas," though Blizzard did not publish a full participant roster in the release.

Blizzard is also pushing community participation around the event. The release invites prospective competitors with, "Want to compete yourself? The Spring Qualification Period (March - April) is happening right now. Climb the ladder or join our competitive Discord server for full details on upcoming Open Qualifier tournaments. Maybe we’ll see you in the next Playoffs!" For creators, Blizzard opened a co-stream program, telling prospective partners to "Apply here," and adding that "Selected streamers will be able to co-stream the tournament on their channel."
The Playoffs set a clear short-term clock: broadcast begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific on March 15 and the winners will move on to the Winter Championship in April as the season’s next milestone. The announcement did not include stream URLs, a full player list, or an explicit prize pool, leaving those details to be confirmed before live coverage and post-tournament reporting.
