Space Marine 2 Techmarine Update Adds Free Techmarine, New Operation, Omnissian Axe
Space Marine 2's free Techmarine class is live on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with Patch 12.0, bringing an automated Servo-Gun, Omnissian Axe and a new free PvE Operation.

Space Marine 2 now gives every player a free Techmarine class on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Patch 12.0, the "Techmarine Update", rolling out across Feb 26–27, 2026. The update adds a free new PvE Operation, the Omnissian Axe melee weapon, cosmetics and DLC tied to Season Pass 2, and a slate of balance, performance and bug fixes published in the studio patch notes.
The Techmarine is playable across the game's PvE and PvP modes - explicitly listed as Operations, Stratagems, Siege and Eternal War - and Focus Entertainment's community post by Hylia says the class is "an expert in crowd control and area defense thanks to his unique loadout and powerful automated weapons bolted directly to his armour." Core Techmarine mechanics center on a backpack-mounted Servo-Gun and deployable support: IGN explains a Servo-Gun ability that locks onto enemies in line of sight and automatically fires while the Techmarine continues fighting in melee or at range, and Warhammer Community calls it "This mind-slaved weapon [that] can unleash hails of bolter fire while the Techmarine is doing their own thing, including performing Gun Strikes on staggered opponents without needing to pause." Techmarines can also repair Tarantula turrets found around mission maps, and players unlock 25 selectable perks to customise playstyle.
Melee play gets a clear highlight in the Omnissian Axe, described by IGN as a weapon that "can deal massive damage to both a single target with its standard attacks and to surrounding enemies with its finishing heavy attacks." Focus entmt frames the axe as exclusive to the Techmarine and notes it helps "cut down Tyranids and Thousand Sons alike," while Warhammer Community invites players to "Take up your Omnissian Axe and wade into battle with the first brand new class for the endlessly fun Operations mode."

Patch 12.0 also introduces Chapter Voice Pack 1 and cosmetics; Focus Entertainment's marketing copy touts that "Patch 12 also marks the release of Space Marine 2’s Chapter Voice Pack 1 adding over 1300 voicelines re-recorded in the unique styles of the Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Black Templars chapters. It comes with three unique Space Marine faces to be equipped and swapped onto any of the game’s classes, as faces are no longer class-locked and can now be applied to all available characters!" That claim conflicts with IGN's reporting that the pack "includes 450 re-recorded voicelines and a unique Space Marine Head cosmetic for each" of those three chapters, and that the pack "costs $4.99" and "is not included in the Season Pass," a point IGN says has upset some players. Both figures and the price difference appear in public reporting and have been noted by outlets covering the update.
Season Pass 2 owners see two named DLC additions in the update: the Raven Guard Champion Pack and the Carcharodons Cosmetic Pack, while official channels published screenshots and a trailer (asset names include SM2_Techmarine_screenshot_07 and SM2_Chapter_Voice_Pack1_16x9_3840x2160_V2bis.jpg). Game director Dmitry Grigorenko, quoted in IGN, framed Patch 12.0 as responsive to PTS feedback: "We've tried to make sure that this class plays differently from the rest," and added, "We've tried to address most of it, but there are some big changes that we didn't have time to implement. There will be more improvements and perks reworks in upcoming patches." The update continues post-launch support that began after the game's 2024 release and, per GameRant commentary, represents one of the more substantial content and balance pushes so far. Expect further perk reworks and QoL adjustments in follow-up patches as Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment iterate on Techmarine feedback.
