Yacht Club Games has finally put Mina the Hollower on the calendar, and the date carries real weight for a studio that built its reputation on making small teams feel big. The retro-styled action adventure will launch on May 29, 2026 for $19.99, ending a long stretch of anticipation that has followed the project since its early-2022 unveiling and Kickstarter campaign.

That campaign drew 21,439 backers and raised $1,239,584, more than quadrupling its $311,503 goal. For a game built around a mouse heroine exploring a cursed island packed with ghosts, goblins and other monsters, the numbers helped turn Mina the Hollower from a promising concept into one of the most watched indie projects in the pipeline.

The release will reach Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, a broad spread that gives Yacht Club its best shot at converting years of wishlisting into day-one sales. The studio has described the game as its first new in-house IP since Shovel Knight, which immediately raises the stakes. Shovel Knight became a landmark indie hit, with Yacht Club saying the series had sold 2 million copies by April 2018 and about 2.5 million by July 2019.

Mina the Hollower has also grown far beyond the scale Yacht Club originally sketched out. In February 2026, the studio said the game had been in development for more than six years and now featured an expansive overworld, more RPG elements, dozens of distinct regions and more total screens than the entirety of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The game also includes more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses, 60 Trinkets, a full level-up system, New Game Plus and hundreds of gameplay modifiers.

That scope helps explain the delays. Yacht Club had previously set the game for Oct. 31, 2025 in a June 6, 2025 announcement, then pushed it again in March 2026 while it worked through final polish and balancing. The Kickstarter page was last updated on May 6, 2026, keeping backers in the loop right up to the new date.

For a studio whose last breakout still casts a long shadow, Mina the Hollower now arrives with a simple test attached to it: whether a beloved indie name can turn a bigger, stranger follow-up into another defining hit.
