BeatSkillz launched FunkWolf on March 17, a phaser and vowel modulation plugin built around three distinct processing modes and a Dirt Engine that combines bit-crushing, decimation, and soft saturation under one hood. The introductory price sits at $39 USD through March 31, 2026, after which it jumps to the regular $79 USD at Plugin Boutique and the BeatSkillz store.

The three modes cover different expressive territory. OSC Mode runs classic LFO-driven phasing with triangle modulation and can lock to DAW tempo for rhythmic sweeps. ENV Mode uses a dynamic envelope follower that reacts to incoming signal level, which makes it particularly responsive on guitars, bass, and keys. The third mode is where FunkWolf gets unusual: Vowel Mode morphs through A-E-I-O-U vowel positions to generate talking-filter effects commonly associated with modern disco and electronic production, and it also supports free-running or DAW-synced operation independently of the OSC Mode.

Beyond the three modes, an Old/New switch toggles between two distinct phaser characters, giving quick access to either a vintage analogue flavour or a more contemporary response without diving into individual controls. The Glaze Stereo Widener runs independent LFOs across the stereo channels to create width that moves rather than sits static, and the feedback path includes a dedicated high-pass filter alongside the standard feedback control. Rekkerd's announcement also lists an output compressor and switchable HP/LP filters among the sound-shaping options.

The Dirt Engine is one of the more specific inclusions here: built-in compression, bit-crushing, decimation, and soft saturation are all available simultaneously, aimed at adding lo-fi grit to what would otherwise be a clean phaser signal. Over 100 presets ship with the plugin to cover the range from gritty '70s funk sweeps to what BeatSkillz describes as Daft Punk-style vowel effects. MIDI learn is also supported for parameter control from hardware.

FunkWolf runs on Windows and macOS in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. The nine-day window before the March 31 deadline makes this a relatively short promotional period for producers sitting on the fence.
