Malaika Arora has never been shy about the argument that luxury should be within reach. With Maejoy, the lifestyle accessories brand she launched on March 11 in collaboration with Exceed Entertainment and Myntra Jabong India Private Limited, she is putting that conviction into product form: a line of IGI and GCI certified lab-grown diamond jewellery set in 925 sterling silver bases, alongside over 250 styles of handbags, available exclusively on Myntra.

The jewellery range is the more technically considered half of the launch. Rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets and tennis bracelets arrive in silver, gold and rose-gold tones, each piece set in a 925 sterling silver base and carrying certification from both IGI and GCI. The choice of lab-grown stones is a deliberate positioning move, not merely a cost-reduction exercise. "Earlier, diamond jewellery was always restricted to a certain strata of the society," Arora said in an interview with Lounge. "I think with lab grown diamonds, you've cut through that entire space. Everybody can access it, a 20-year-old to a 60-year-old, the consumer's age gap has widened." She also pointed to design freedom as a key advantage: "Because they are not mined, there is a certain amount of credibility that comes with lab-grown diamonds. And you're not restricted in design."

The handbag assortment spans crossbody bags, structured shoulder bags, bucket bags, totes, workwear classics, backpacks and clutches, rendered in synthetic leather, raffia, braids, satin, and rhinestone and metallic finishes. The breadth suggests a brand engineering maximum wardrobe entry points rather than a curated capsule, which is consistent with the Myntra distribution model and a target customer Arora and her partners describe as young and fashion-conscious.

MJIPL, the B2B wholesale entity of Myntra, is handling product design, development and brand building. Suman Saha, CXO and Head of House of Brands at MJIPL, framed the collaboration in terms of market positioning: "Maejoy brings together Malaika Arora's distinctive style perspective with a strong proposition in the accessible yet elevated accessories space. We believe the brand's fashion-forward designs and thoughtful positioning will connect strongly with discerning consumers." Exceed Entertainment CEO Afsar Zaidi, whose firm co-created the brand, noted that celebrity-driven labels require both authenticity and commercial viability, and argued that the partnership pairs Arora's fashion influence with Myntra's retail infrastructure on precisely those terms.

Arora herself described the brand philosophy, named "The Joy of Being Me," as a project in democratising access: "The brand aims to democratise the global fashion trends while offering women something that can extend the feeling of luxury every day, while being accessible — be it a lab-grown diamond or a perfectly crafted handbag." The launch follows her recent opening of two restaurants in Mumbai, extending what has become a deliberate entrepreneurial expansion beyond performance and modelling.

The case for lab-grown diamonds in an accessible-luxury positioning is well established in Western markets; its application within India's fast-fashion retail architecture, via a platform like Myntra, is a more pointed experiment. Whether IGI and GCI certification carries sufficient consumer weight to justify the "diamond" designation for a Myntra shopper is the real test Maejoy will face once the initial celebrity interest fades.
