World Diamond Day was conceived last year by the World Diamond Heritage Board, which transferred oversight of the initiative to the Natural Diamond Council. Now, under NDC CEO Amber Pepper, the industry has a date: April 8, 2026.

The Natural Diamond Council will introduce World Diamond Day on April 8, 2026, a global movement inviting companies and professionals across the diamond industry to share authentic natural diamond stories across social media. Powered by user-generated content, the initiative encourages designers, retailers, manufacturers, and industry professionals to post meaningful natural diamond moments across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others on the same day.

The NDC has been deliberate about what this day is not. "World Diamond Day is a collective moment, not a campaign," the organization stated. It will mark the first global observance dedicated to sharing narratives around natural diamonds across both industry and consumer segments.

Amber Pepper framed the timing with urgency. "Now more than ever, the power of the natural diamond industry lies in its ability to come together with a unified voice," the CEO told JCK. "World Diamond Day represents a rare and meaningful moment, one that no other category can so authentically galvanize. In a time of global uncertainty, the values that natural diamonds embody — authenticity, human connection, and enduring meaning — resonate more deeply than ever."

The WDHB, which originated the concept, transferred oversight to the NDC, with April chosen for the observance because diamond is the month's birthstone, according to WDHB founding member Nicolas Chrétien. The timing of April 8 carries additional resonance: the number eight holds symbolic weight across many cultures, often representing infinity, balance, and lasting prosperity.

The first year will serve as a soft launch, designed to spark a groundswell of participation across the global diamond community. The NDC's motto for the day is direct: "One day to celebrate natural diamonds, together." Content themes range widely. The NDC suggests diamond-centric moments such as engagements, anniversaries, and heirloom transitions, as well as imagery related to diamonds' journey from mine to market and mining's positive impact on education, conservation, and communities worldwide. Designers are also encouraged to post about their creations to highlight diamond craftsmanship.

Chrétien wrote on LinkedIn that the decision to pass World Diamond Day to the NDC was "a gesture in service of the natural diamond industry, one that places the Natural Diamond Council at the center of a shared initiative designed to unite the industry around a simple and powerful idea."

A dedicated toolkit is available at NaturalDiamonds.com/worlddiamondday, where participants can upload their own images, add the World Diamond Day logo to posts, download ready-to-use social assets, and access participation guidelines. The NDC also encourages participants to post in their own voice. The NDC's broader educational infrastructure provides additional context: last spring, the organization launched the Diamond Learning Center, a free online resource offering jewelry professionals and enthusiasts training through videos and modules.

For an industry that has spent years navigating the rise of lab-grown stones and shifting consumer values, the format, structured not as a campaign but as an open platform shaped by participants, is designed to enable real-time, global storytelling that reflects both consumer sentiment and industry perspectives. A billion-year-old stone, one shared day.
