Hong Kong International Jewellery Show Opens, Uniting 4,000 Exhibitors From 40 Nations
Uzbekistan made its debut at the 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, joining 4,000 exhibitors from 40 nations at the world's largest jewellery marketplace.

The 42nd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show brought together some 4,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries and regions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, cementing the city's claim as the world's largest one-stop jewellery marketplace when it opened on March 4.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the five-day show ran concurrently with the 12th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, which opened two days earlier on March 2 at AsiaWorld-Expo and concluded on March 6. Together, the twin fairs transformed Hong Kong into what Fair Organising Committee Chairman Kent Wong described plainly: "Our twin shows remain pivotal for sourcing, networking, and capturing global market trends."
The most technically compelling debut of this edition was the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion at Booth CEC 3E-F02, curated by the World Gold Council and featuring 11 exhibitors. The pavilion showcased hard gold techniques that produce gold which is harder, lighter, and brighter than conventional alloys, properties that allow craftspeople to set stones in configurations that standard gold cannot support. For anyone tracking where fine jewellery materials science is heading, this was the room to watch. A second new addition, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion, explored the crossover between jewellery setting and haute horlogerie, a convergence that increasingly defines luxury at the highest price points.
Uzbekistan arrived as a first-time participant, sending a delegation of 10 companies presenting gold jewellery collections. Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, framed the debut within a broader ambition: "Alongside the expanded Hall of Fame, the show will feature the debut of the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Pavilion. Furthermore, Uzbekistan is participating for the first time with a delegation of 10 companies, showcasing a wide range of gold jewellery. Through diversified exhibit profiles, we aim to create more collaboration opportunities for the industry and reinforce Hong Kong's status as a global jewellery trading hub."

Two design competitions ran alongside the trade floor. The Jewellers' and Goldsmiths' Association of Hong Kong Limited presented awards for the Hong Kong International Fashion Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition on opening day, a contest that pushes designers to create gold jewellery that is both culturally resonant and commercially viable for ASEAN and Middle East markets. The inaugural International Fei Cui Jewellery Design Competition, organised by the Hong Kong Jade Association, held its awards presentation on March 5, honouring designers who weave jadeite into work informed by global cultural references.
The Antique and Vintage Jewellery Section drew significant attention, with pieces from houses including Van Cleef and Arpels, whose Gold Articulated Rubies and Diamonds Bracelet was among the standouts, alongside Cartier's Diamond C de Cartier Tricolour Gold Earrings, Chaumet's Diamond, Pearl and Emerald Platinum and 18K Yellow Gold Clip Earrings, and Boucheron's Nuri Parrot White Gold Ring. De Grisogono brought its Chiocciola Emerald, Tsavorite, Peridot and Diamond Ring in 18K White Gold, a piece whose multi-stone construction exemplified the ambitious gem-setting possibilities that the Hard Pure Gold Pavilion's techniques are designed to enable. Tiffany and Co.'s Gold Leaf Necklace and Chanel's Onyx, Pearls and Diamonds Pendant Earrings rounded out a section that moved between eras without losing coherence.
The show closed on March 8, with an extended online edition running through March 13, allowing trade professionals and collectors to maintain access to exhibitors beyond the physical event's close.
