Lahore police arrest two women, recover 14 tola gold, PKR 5.9m
Lahore police recovered 14 tolas of gold, roughly 163 grams, plus PKR 5.9 million in cash after arresting two women tied to the Shammo Changarr gang.

A stash of stolen gold, measured at 14 tolas, and PKR 5.9 million in cash was recovered in Lahore after police arrested two women they described as key suspects in a house-theft case in the Lohari area.
The arrests were carried out by a team led by Abbas-ul-Hassan, in-charge of the Investigation Wing at Police Station Lohari Gate. Police linked the two women to the Shammo Changarr gang and said the recovery included cash and gold ornaments taken during a burglary in which the suspects allegedly broke house locks while the family was away.
In Pakistan’s jewelry trade, the tola remains a familiar unit for household gold holdings, wedding sets, and inherited pieces. Fourteen tolas is a substantial quantity, roughly 163 grams of gold, often representing years of savings stored as bangles, chains, and other wearable assets that can be converted quickly.
The case drew notice from DIG Investigation Lahore Syed Zeeshan Raza, and SP Investigation City Farhat Abbas was reported to have assigned the task of arresting the suspects and recovering the stolen property. After the recovery, Syed Zeeshan Raza handed the property back to the complainant, closing the loop on what police framed as a major theft case for the Lohari Gate investigation team.
Police said the two arrested women had prior records, with dozens of cases registered against them at different police stations. The investigation continued after the arrests, as police pursued the wider case around the alleged gang and the thefts attributed to it. The DIG also announced commendation certificates for the police team involved in the operation.
