Giftex Highlights Provenance in Precious Collectibles Auction of Jewels, Silver, Watches

From New Delhi, Giftex staged "Precious Collectibles," an online auction conducted 23–24 February, 2026 that placed provenance and storytelling at the center of its offering. The house presented a cross‑category assemblage of jewellery, heirloom silver and distinguished timepieces framed as a study in craft and lineage.

Giftex billed the sale as a "thoughtful curation" and delivered what it called an "exceptional selection of jewellery, silver pieces, and distinguished timepieces," with catalogue entries that emphasized the "enduring legacy and evolving language of collectible objets d'art." The online format invited registered bidders to preview the full catalogue and participate in timed sessions hosted on Giftex’s platform.

The jewellery section spanned periods and styles, bringing "vintage and heritage‑inspired creations alongside striking modern and contemporary designs." Materials cited in the catalogue included gold and silver settings, and gemstones ranged from Colombian and Zambian emeralds to Burmese rubies, Basra pearls, diamonds, tanzanites, and spinels. That roster signals an auction intent on pairing mineral provenance with design provenance, geographic origins of stones alongside the stylistic lineage of the settings.

Heirloom silver anchored the sale’s ceremonial thread, with specific highlights leading the silver category. Lot no. 137, described as "A Silver Punch Bowl," is rendered in a classical form raised on a circular base, decorated with ribbon swags, bows and floral motifs, finished with a beaded rim and a fluted interior that "combines decorative refinement with stately presence." Lot no. 108, "A Silver Dragon Motif Bowl," features a "commanding dragon motif in high relief," finely chased against swirling waves and clouds, with the design continuing within the bowl in repousse and a fluid rim that mirrors the movement, material choices and technique presented as symbolic as well as ornamental.

The timepiece selection was framed as offering "milestone and technically advanced watches," described in the catalogue copy as ranging "from classic models to sophisticated complications" and highlighting "mechanical ingenuity and horological precision." Presented alongside the jewellery and silver, the watches were positioned to narrate technical milestones in collecting as much as aesthetic ones.

Catalogue access and registration were offered to bidders ahead of the online sessions; Giftex invited participants to preview the full catalogue and register for participation on its website. An Instagram post accompanying the catalogue reiterated the cross‑category theme, noting jewellery, rare watches and ornate silverware that "reflect heritage, craftsmanship, and", a phrase left unfinished in the social snippet but consistent with the sale’s curatorial language.

By assembling emeralds, Basra pearls, heirloom silver such as lots 108 and 137, and a roster of technically minded timepieces, Giftex fashioned Precious Collectibles into a sale that foregrounded provenance as both provenance of material and provenance of meaning, a deliberate curation of objects whose value is as much about story and technique as it is about carat, weight or age.
