Statement debuts Violette Serrat collaboration with ebony sautoir necklace
Statement’s new ebony sautoir and 18K gold earrings turn a bold silhouette into spare, wearable jewelry, priced at 3,200 euros.
A pear-shaped ebony pendant, a thin sautoir, and 18K yellow gold are doing the work of a much louder statement piece. Statement’s new collaboration with Violette Serrat pairs handcarved black ebony with rounded gold spheres, trimming the drama down to a clean, sculptural line that still reads as evening jewelry.
The capsule, called “Her Way,” is the first release in Statement’s new Portrait Joailler series, a project the Paris house says will spotlight people it finds inspiring. Here, the muse was not chosen at random. Amélie Huynh said Serrat was among the first to wear the MyWay ring before Statement formally existed, and the ring went on to become a bestseller after appearing on Serrat’s YouTube channel as early as 2016.
That backstory matters because the collection feels less like a celebrity licensing exercise than a design conversation that has been running for years. Serrat, who founded VIOLETTE_FR in 2021 after nearly two decades in makeup and fashion-adjacent creative work, brought the kind of instinct that translates well to jewelry made for close-up wear. The result is not maximalist ornament. It is a case study in how to make bold materials feel pared back.
Statement says the line was meant to express a free and bold femininity, and that the pear shape references curves, flesh and generosity. Serrat called the house’s use of ebony in jewelry “hyper refreshing” because wood is not new, but is rarely seen in jewelry today. That tension, between an old material and a fresh silhouette, gives the pieces their edge. Ebony can look severe; here, the handsculpted finish softens the effect, while the gold spheres keep the composition from going flat.

The earrings are sold as a pair and are listed in 18K yellow gold with black ebony pendants carved in a pear shape. Statement gives their dimensions as 1.4 cm by 3.2 cm, with the motif measuring 1.4 cm by 2.5 cm. Because each pendant is sculpted by hand, the house says the size may vary slightly, a small irregularity that suits the organic mood better than a machine-perfect finish would.
At 3,200 euros, the capsule sits firmly in fine-jewelry territory, but its strongest appeal is styling utility. This is the kind of piece that works with a black cashmere crewneck, a white shirt left open at the collar, or a tailored jacket where the pendant can hang in clear view. Statement began offering the collaboration Wednesday through its e-commerce site and at its Paris flagship at 1 Rue du 29 Juillet in the 1st arrondissement, near Place Vendôme, while also shipping from Paris to more than a hundred addresses worldwide. It is minimalism with a point of view: just enough gold, just enough sculpture, and no excess to distract from the form.
