Morgan's Jewelers, a Torrance Legacy, Wins Best of the Beach 2026

Eight decades after Morgan Varon left a Seattle jewelry business he shared with his brother and set up shop on the Torrance stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard, the store he built has been named Best Jeweler in Easy Reader's Best of the Beach 2026.

Morgan's Jewelers, now at 22200 Hawthorne Blvd., is a third-generation family business, and the third generation is very much present. Melissa Varon Weinberg, who represents that generation, puts the store's staying power plainly: "We deal with a lot of multigenerational business. Grandparents to grandkids shop with us."

That loyalty, built since 1946, runs through every tier of service the shop offers. The on-site jewelers include a lead jeweler who has worked the bench there for more than 30 years, a tenure that speaks to the institutional knowledge embedded in the custom design studio. Services span custom design, watch repair, appraisals, and estate liquidation, a breadth that makes the shop a practical resource for everything from sizing an inherited ring to dispersing an estate collection.

The custom work has reached notable heights. The shop's clientele has included celebrities, and Morgan's has produced custom championship watches for the LA Kings. The craftsmanship required for a commission of that scale, coordinating design, materials, and deadline with a professional sports organization, is the kind of work that rarely flows to a neighborhood jeweler unless the neighborhood jeweler has genuinely earned that trust.
