North Adams freshman Tenzlee Burns headlined a strong Adams County showing when the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Media Association named its Southeast District girls all-district teams, giving the county eight honorees across Divisions V, VI and VII. The selections stretched across North Adams, West Union, Peebles and Manchester, a sign that Adams County girls basketball had depth this season, not just one front-runner.

Burns earned Division V first team honors after a freshman year that placed her among the district’s most productive players. She averaged 17.1 points per game and was listed with some of Southeast Ohio’s established scorers, a reminder of how difficult it was to break into the top tier as a first-year player. North Adams also had Emma Pistole on second team and Jacee Davis on special mention.

West Union added two more names to the county total. Annabelle McIntosh was a Division V second-team selection, while Madison Stout earned third team recognition. Peebles was represented by Kendall Myers on Division VI second team and Alyssa Smalley on Division VI special mention. Manchester’s Hayden Rideout received Division VII special mention to complete the countywide list.

The honors matter because they are the first step toward later All-Ohio recognition, which is drawn from nominations by the seven district associations. That gives the all-district teams added weight: they do not reflect one hot week or one tournament run, but a full season of games against the best competition in the region. In Burns’ case, the district list also shows how impressive her freshman season was in a field that included older, established players from programs such as Portsmouth, Fairland and Piketon.

The county’s postseason recognition lined up with results already on the record. North Adams closed 2025 with a 61-46 win over Minford, when Burns scored 24 points and Pistole added 20. West Union finished the 2025-26 season 12-11, a mark that still produced two all-district selections. For Adams County, the bigger takeaway is clear: several programs put players on the district stage, and that should keep the county relevant when next season opens.
