Manchester Local Schools schedules year-end financials board meeting June 24

Manchester Local Schools scheduled a special Board of Education meeting for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Manchester High School to handle year-end financials, putting the district’s closing books in public view as summer decisions take shape. The district’s calendar labels the session “Special Board Meeting, Year-End Financials.”

The board’s 2026 schedule also lists regular meetings at 6:30 p.m. on June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11 and December 9. A separate special meeting is set for July 23, giving families and taxpayers a clear timeline for the district’s summer business.

Manchester Local Schools also posted a public retire-rehire notice for July 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Manchester High School, 130 Wayne Frye Drive, Manchester, OH 45144. The board will consider re-employing David Knauff as a superannuate in the same position he previously held, a step governed by Ohio Revised Code Section 3307.353.

That notice says the district posted the retire-rehire meeting at least 60 days before the re-employment date and that the required public meeting must be held 15 to 30 days before the rehire takes effect. The process matters because it affects staffing continuity, salary planning and how the district handles a position filled through board vote.

The financial meeting comes after the board heard a district finance presentation from Superintendent Gary Hinton and Treasurer Jennifer Rucker on May 19, a sign that Manchester Local Schools has already been working through its summer financial review. It also follows two financial audits posted by the Ohio Auditor of State, including a report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025 that was released March 24, 2026, and a separate audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.

The district’s homepage also carried its Erin’s Law notice, which says Ohio requires developmentally appropriate child sexual abuse prevention instruction for grades K-6 and sexual violence prevention education for grades 7-12. The notice says Ohio became the 38th state to enact Erin’s Law, adding another required item to the district’s summer compliance calendar.

With the June 24 financial session, the July 8 regular meeting and the July 23 retire-rehire hearing, Manchester Local Schools enters the summer with finances, staffing and required student safety instruction all on the board’s public agenda.
