North Adams senior Emmy Holt named Evans Scholar, to attend Ohio State
North Adams senior Emmy Holt won an Evans Scholarship - a full housing-and-tuition award - and will begin as a 2026 Evans Scholar at Ohio State, a boost for local education equity.

North Adams High School senior Emmy Holt has been named one of 21 Evans Scholarship recipients from Ohio and is expected to begin college as an Evans Scholar in fall 2026, planning to attend Ohio State University in Columbus. The Evans Scholarship covers full housing and tuition and is valued at more than $125,000 over four years, a lifeline that can change trajectories for students and families in Adams County.
The Evans Scholarship program awards students based on a combination of a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need, and outstanding character. Recipients collectively post a cumulative GPA of 3.3, a 98 percent graduation rate, an estimated 40 percent are first-generation college students, and 96 percent are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduating. Those outcomes underline the program’s role in expanding access to higher education and in strengthening social and economic supports that contribute to long-term health and stability.
Holt is sponsored locally by Losantiville Country Club. An Instagram post celebrating the award read, “Congratulations to Emmy Holt, 2026 Evans Scholar!!! Emmy is the 105th caddie from Losantiville Country Club to earn a coveted full 4-year WGA”, the post text provided in source material is truncated and stops there. A photo caption accompanying the announcement noted: “North Adams senior Emmy Holt has been awarded the prestigious Evans Scholarship, one of 21 caddies in Ohio to receive the award. Ohio candidates were selected following a meeting of the state committee; the selection meeting interview was held at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati on January 8. In this Ohio cohort, most recipients are expected to attend Miami University in Oxford or Ohio State University in Columbus, with final university assignments to be confirmed this spring. Nationwide, the 2025–26 selection cycle is projected to award an estimated 380 Evans Scholarships by the end of the process.

Local and statewide volunteers who run the program praised the students’ preparation and dedication. “The dedication and maturity these students displayed throughout the selection process was truly remarkable,” said Joe Murray, a WGA Director and the Ohio State Chair. “They have earned this opportunity through years of hard work, and we’re excited to watch them thrive as Evans Scholars and future leaders.”
Holt’s award also continues a family connection: she is “following in the footsteps of her brother TJ,” a detail noted in the announcement. For Adams County, Holt’s scholarship is more than an individual honor. It represents community investment - from local caddie sponsors to school counselors - that reduces financial barriers, supports first-generation students, and contributes to healthier, more resilient neighborhoods by improving education and employment prospects.
Readers can expect university confirmations this spring and Holt’s enrollment to begin in fall 2026. Local schools and the Losantiville sponsor may offer further opportunities to celebrate Holt and to spotlight pathways that help other Adams County students access higher education.
