The Alamance County Sheriff's Office issued an AMBER Alert for Macie Thompson after deputies say her father took the 1-year-old from her Burlington home without permission late Tuesday night and headed toward Durham in a white 1999 Toyota Camry bearing North Carolina license plate FHZ6073.

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Kinnan Drive after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. A caregiver had been watching Macie at the time. Investigators identified the suspect as Dominic Antonio Thompson, 25, and said he left the home with the child under circumstances that prompted an emergency child abduction alert.

Macie was described as a Black female last seen wearing a Hello Kitty hoodie and a yellow-and-orange shirt. Authorities believed she and Thompson may have traveled to the Durham area. Despite the circumstances, investigators said they did not believe Macie was in immediate danger.

Emergency alerts pushed Macie's description and the Camry's plate number to cellphones across Alamance and surrounding counties. The Alamance County Sheriff's Office asked anyone who spotted the vehicle or had any information on Macie's whereabouts to call 911 or the Sheriff's Office directly at 336-570-6776.
