Former Southern High Teacher Indicted on Indecent Liberties, Solicitation Charges
A Southern Alamance High School agriculture teacher faces four sex offense charges involving four different females after a grand jury indictment this spring.

Nicholas Allen Anders, a former agriculture teacher at Southern Alamance High School who had worked in the Alamance-Burlington School System since January 2005, was indicted by an Alamance County grand jury on multiple criminal counts stemming from alleged incidents that spanned March through May 2025.
Anders, 52, of 101 Kingston Lane in Graham, faces a total of four charges: two counts of felony indecent liberties with a Southern High School student, one count of misdemeanor sexual battery, and one count of solicitation of prostitution. Court files show each charge allegedly involves a different female, meaning four separate alleged victims are named across the four offenses.
The Graham Police Department opened its investigation on May 29, 2025, after receiving a report of a teacher having inappropriate sexual contact with a student. Anders was still employed at Southern Alamance at the time. He resigned on May 30, one day after the investigation began, and the Alamance-Burlington School System board approved the resignation.
Anders was first arrested on June 4 and charged with felony indecent liberties with a Southern High School student and misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution. According to arrest warrants, those two offenses allegedly occurred in early May 2025. He was released from the Alamance County jail on June 5 on a $75,000 secured bond.
A second arrest followed on June 9, when both the Graham Police Department and the Alamance County Sheriff's Office filed additional warrants. The Graham police warrant charged Anders with misdemeanor sexual battery for an alleged incident on March 27, 2025. The sheriff's office warrant charged him with another count of felony indecent liberties with a student for an alleged incident in April 2025. His bond on the June 9 charges totaled $75,000, split between $25,000 for the indecent liberties count and $50,000 for the sexual battery count. He posted bond and was released on June 11.
Beyond his classroom duties, Anders held several roles at Southern Alamance, including assistant athletic director, CTSO advisor, assistant lacrosse coach, weightlifting coach, JV volleyball coach, assistant track coach, and substitute bus driver.
ABSS spokesperson Emily-Lynn Adkins said the district plans on cooperating with law enforcement. The district also informed Southern Alamance staff and families after learning a staff member had been charged. "When we became aware of the incident, we fully cooperated with their investigation," ABSS said in a statement.
All charges against Anders remain pending in Alamance County criminal court. His attorney did not respond to requests for comment.
