Graham Crash Kills Woman, Seriously Injures Driver at South Main Street

Imani Janel Vaughn, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2020 Jeep Wrangler she was riding in overturned at the intersection of South Main Street and Moore Street Saturday night, a collision that also left the Jeep's driver with serious injuries.

Graham Police Department officers and other agencies reached the intersection at approximately 9:17 p.m. on March 28. A 1999 Ford Mustang had struck the Wrangler, overturning it. The Mustang's driver, a 19-year-old woman, remained at the scene and is part of the ongoing investigation. Police have not publicly identified her.

The Jeep's driver, a 29-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He has not been publicly named.

As of Tuesday, Graham police had released no probable cause and had not assigned fault or announced charges. Crashes involving rollovers and fatalities typically require forensic collision reconstruction, a process that examines tire marks, vehicle damage patterns, road geometry, and witness accounts before any findings are presented to prosecutors.

South Main Street is a principal north-south corridor through Graham, and the broader stretch has logged multiple police responses for crashes in recent years, including a prior incident at its junction with East Crescent Square Drive. The Moore Street intersection, where Saturday's collision occurred, carries a mix of residential side-street traffic crossing a higher-volume main artery.
