Graham Teen Teriyah Herbin, 14, Fatally Shot; Investigation Continues
Teriyah Herbin, 14, died from a gunshot wound to the chest at a Burton Street home in Graham; a 15-year-old known to her cooperated with police but no charges have been filed.

Teriyah Herbin, a 14-year-old Graham girl, died Saturday evening after officers found her suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest inside a home at 111 Burton Street. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Graham Police Department officers had initially responded to the Burton Street address for a report of an unresponsive person on the evening of March 7. Upon arrival, they located Herbin with the chest wound that would prove fatal.
A 15-year-old who was present at the time and known to Herbin remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. WXII identified that individual as a juvenile and described them as "the other involved party." No additional people have been identified in connection with the shooting.
As of this reporting, no charges have been filed. The Graham Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and that a determination regarding potential charges is still pending. Investigators have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding how Herbin was shot, including whether the shooting was accidental or intentional, nor have they released any information about a weapon.
