Haw River Man, 70, Dies in Early Morning House Fire on Glen Oaks Drive

Richard Hogan, 70, was pronounced dead at 424 Glen Oaks Drive in Haw River after firefighters found him inside his home during a search of the burning structure shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 18.
The initial call came from a neighbor who reported that a house two doors down appeared to be on fire. Crews arrived to find the residence engulfed with heavy smoke pouring from the second floor. No other injuries were reported.
Five agencies are now investigating the cause: the Haw River Police Department, the Haw River Fire Department, the Alamance County Fire Marshal's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Insurance. Police said the preliminary investigation does not show any evidence of criminal activity, though no official cause has been released.
