Hawfields Middle School’s girls soccer team won the 2026 district title, a result that says as much about Alamance County’s next generation of players as it does about one school’s season.

The victory came out of Hawfields, at 1951 South NC Highway 119 in Mebane, inside a school system that says it serves nearly 23,000 students in PreK-12. ABSS Athletics, under athletics director Todd Davis, frames its mission around sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork, and girls soccer has become one of the district’s steady middle-school sports.

That league structure matters. ABSS middle-school girls soccer has included matchups against Western Alamance, Broadview, Turrentine, Graham, Southern and Woodlawn, creating a countywide route for players who are still years away from high school varsity fields. Western Alamance Middle School’s 2026 schedule listed games against Hawfields on March 16 and April 23, both at 4:45 p.m., and also showed playoffs starting May 11 with a championship game set for May 13.

The title also fits a pattern Hawfields has already shown in previous spring seasons. A Hawfields weekly update in May 2025 listed a girls soccer championship game at Southeast Alamance High School on May 7, 2025, at 4:45 p.m. The same stretch of school updates also referenced an Athletic Awards Banquet, underscoring how the program’s postseason recognition extends beyond the field and into the school’s broader celebration of student-athletes.

That is why the Hawfields crown reaches beyond campus pride. Middle-school girls soccer in Alamance County is not just a standings page; it is a feeder system for the next round of high school programs in Mebane, Burlington, Haw River and beyond. When Hawfields wins the district title, it gives coaches, families and administrators a first look at the players who may shape those programs next.
