Alamance County deputies arrested 26 year old Lindsay Massey Jr. and his mother Nina Snipes Womack after investigators said Massey pulled a gun on a driver, shot at the victim’s vehicle, and fled with the car keys following a crash on December 15. The incident occurred just before noon on N. N.C. 49 near the intersection of McCray Road, deputies said, when a blue sedan pulled from a convenience store parking lot and the victim struck its rear after braking to avoid a full speed collision.

According to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the blue vehicle stopped about 25 yards ahead and a passenger later identified as Massey ran to the victim’s car, produced a firearm, threatened the driver, and fired at the left rear quarter panel of the vehicle. Deputies said Massey demanded the victim’s keys and then drove off in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Detectives located the blue vehicle linked to Massey that same night and secured a search warrant. Massey was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains held without bond. He faces multiple counts including one count of felony possession of firearm by felon, one count of felony possession of a stolen firearm, one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of felony discharge of firearm into occupied property, one count of felony assault by pointing a gun, one count of misdemeanor child abuse, and one count of misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct a public officer.

Officials said investigators allege Massey handed the firearm and the victim’s keys to his mother after the incident. Womack was charged with felony accessory after the fact of robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony obstruction of justice. Sheriff’s Office records show she was placed in the Alamance County Detention Center on a fifty thousand dollar secured bond.

The case raises community concerns about roadway confrontations and violent crime tied to routine stops at commercial parking areas. With both defendants in custody and felony charges filed, the matter will proceed through the county court system where prosecutors will present evidence and decisions about trial and sentencing will be made. Residents with information about the December 15 incident are encouraged to contact the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office to assist ongoing investigations.
