More than 200 vendors will spread across downtown Mebane on April 24-25 when the 38th annual Dogwood Festival opens Alamance County's longest-running street festival for another weekend of music, food and community gathering.

Friday's schedule begins with a golf tournament at Mill Creek Golf Club on Saint Andrews Drive, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The public festival opens at 6 p.m. with the Dogwood Dash: a free Kids Dash toward E.M. Yoder Elementary School kicks off at 6 p.m., followed by a USATF-certified 5K night race at 6:30 p.m. The main stage headliner performs from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., and carnival rides run all evening; wristbands are $25. A kids outdoor movie night rounds out Friday's programming alongside food vendors throughout the grounds.

Saturday's full festival footprint runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., filling downtown streets with food and craft vendors, artisan booths, a Touch-a-Truck display, the annual car show and a beer and wine garden operating under Mebane's social district designation. Multiple entertainment stages are scheduled throughout the day.

Both days are free to attend. Day-of 5K registration is available for $45, with cash recommended at the race venue.

The festival is presented by the Mebane Business Association and draws visitors from Burlington, Graham, Elon and Haw River alongside day-trippers from across the Piedmont Triad. For downtown merchants, the two-day surge of pedestrian traffic arrives during a stretch of the spring retail calendar that would otherwise pass quietly. Nonprofit and civic organizations share festival space with commercial vendors for fundraising and outreach.

Parking around downtown is limited; overflow space is available at the old Fisherman's Cove lot at 414 W. Center St. Street closures take effect in portions of downtown for both days. Vendor, volunteer and sponsorship registration, along with updated band announcements, is available through the festival's official website ahead of the April 24 opening.
