Nearly a dozen City of Laramie departments have shifted addresses as a major renovation project transforms the City Hall campus, and the city wants to make sure residents know where to find them.

Several city offices temporarily relocated while the basement of City Hall and the City Hall Annex building are being renovated. The bulk of those departments moved to the Laramie Boomerang building at 320 East Grand Avenue, including fire prevention, information technology, planning, code administration, code enforcement, environmental health, community and economic development, and human resources.

Finance and Administrative Services took a separate route, relocating to the City of Laramie North Campus at 4373 North 3rd Street. That facility, the Municipal Operations Center, sits on the city's north side, well removed from the downtown cluster of Grand Avenue and Ivinson.

Hours and contact information remain the same for all departments; only their physical locations have changed. That means residents can still reach planning staff, code enforcement officers, and human resources personnel at the same phone numbers and email addresses they have always used.

The offices are expected to return to their normal City Hall campus locations in approximately 14 months. The renovation itself has been years in the making. Work covers all three floors of the City Hall Annex and the basement of City Hall. The project carries a budget not to exceed $4,895,000.

The Annex building at the center of the renovation is one of downtown Laramie's most recognizable structures. For 75 years it served as Laramie's Carnegie Library, built in 1906 in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, before transitioning to city office space.

For residents handling utility payments or municipal court matters, no trip to a temporary location is necessary. Utility Billing and Municipal Court remain open and operating in City Hall at 406 East Ivinson Avenue, and those needing to pay a utility bill or municipal citation should continue to visit that location.

The City Hall and Annex renovation is part of a broader package of capital projects approved under the city's Special Purpose Excise Tax, which also funds street rehabilitation, a new fire training facility, and recreation facility improvements.
