Allendale man dies after Port Royal shooting, police investigate

A 23-year-old Allendale man died Friday night after being found with an apparent gunshot wound and taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Beaufort County Coroner identified the victim as Tre Sean Reid, of Allendale, South Carolina.

Port Royal police responded to reports of shots fired at Shell Pointe Apartments in Port Royal around 11 p.m. Friday, according to police records tied to the case. Investigators have said the inquiry remains ongoing as they work to determine what led to the shooting.

Reid’s death adds to the strain on a small county community already sensitive to violence involving young adults. With Reid identified as an Allendale resident, the case reaches well beyond Port Royal and Beaufort County and will be felt among family, friends and neighbors back home.
