Apache County releases 2026 board meeting schedule and holiday notice

Apache County’s 2026 board calendar centers county decisions at 75 West Cleveland Street in St. Johns, where supervisors meet the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. unless another time is posted. The county describes the Board of Supervisors as the governing body, and the meeting agenda can pull in the Public Health Services District, the Jail District, the Library District and other county business that reaches households from St. Johns to Chinle.

The county calendar listed a Board of Supervisors meeting for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and another for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 9 a.m. The January 6 agenda notice said the public had physical access to the meeting room 30 minutes before the start of the meeting, and Apache County keeps archived agendas and minutes online so residents can track decisions after the meeting ends.

That record trail matters in a county where one meeting can touch service levels, spending and district operations across a wide rural footprint. The January 6 agenda named Chairman Alton Joe Shepherd, Vice Chairman Joe Shirley, Jr., and Supervisor Nelson Davis. The February 3 minutes listed Ryan Patterson as clerk of the board and manager, Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren as county attorney, and Chris Resare as chief deputy county attorney. A February agenda also said board members may attend an Eastern Arizona Counties Organization meeting on February 18, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., another sign that county calendars often overlap with regional coordination.

The holiday notice carries the other dates residents need to mark. Apache County’s 2026 holiday list includes New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Those are the days most likely to close county offices or delay permits, records, payments and in-person service, so contractors, nonprofits and households in Eagar, Springerville and Chinle need to plan around them before making a trip to St. Johns.

County land-use scheduling also runs through a different public calendar. Apache County’s Planning and Zoning Commission normally meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the Board of Supervisors’ Meeting Room at the County Annex Building, 75 W. Cleveland Street. An amended notice said those meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. MST effective July 1, 2026, with a working session at noon. Apache County published the same kind of consolidated board meeting and holiday document in 2025, showing the notice is part of the county’s annual operating calendar rather than a one-time posting.
