Atchison County jail now fully staffed with correctional health professionals

Advanced Correctional Healthcare announced that the Atchison County Law Enforcement Center health care team in Kansas is now fully staffed, putting inmate medical coverage on firmer footing at the county’s detention center in Atchison. The Atchison County Sheriff’s Office already lists both an Inmate Medical page and a Jail Division page, showing that medical care is built into jail operations, not treated as a side function.

The facility operates at 518 Parallel St., and the sheriff’s office lists the jail phone number as 913-804-6080. That makes the staffing change more than a personnel update. It affects how medical issues are handled inside the jail, how deputies coordinate with health staff on shift, and how the county presents inmate care to the public.

The announcement did not say how many correctional health professionals are now assigned, whether the added staffing will reduce outside hospital transports, or whether response times inside the jail will improve. Those are the practical questions tied to any correctional-health change in a county jail, where a delay in care can quickly become a law-enforcement problem and, at times, an emergency response issue.
