Atchison Porchfest 2026 brings free porch concerts to historic 4th Street
Historic 4th Street will host more than 20 bands and food trucks as Porchfest draws 600-plus people into a walkable downtown music route.

Historic 4th Street will turn into a free, walkable concert corridor as Atchison Porchfest 2026 brings more than 20 regional bands to front porches, sidewalks and nearby gathering spots from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 9. Project Atchison says the event is built for an easygoing, family-friendly afternoon, with food trucks, neighborhood mingling and a route that invites people to linger instead of just pass through.
The lineup gives the day real local pull. Rudy and the Lost Boys, Band K, Jaeger Family and Atchison Jazz Express were among the early acts named by Project Atchison, and the organization says the festival will feature more than 20 regional bands in all. With porch stages spread across the corridor, families can expect a constant rotation of live music while they move between blocks, stop for food and settle in with lawn chairs along the route.
This year’s footprint centers on 4th Street between Unity Street and Kearney Street, keeping the festival tied closely to the historic district and the businesses around it. That setup matters for downtown Atchison: a free event with no ticket barrier brings foot traffic past porches, storefronts and the blocks that anchor the city’s Main Street identity. Project Atchison says more than 600 people gather for Porchfest each year, a crowd size that has turned a neighborhood music day into one of the city’s more visible community draws.

The event has grown steadily since the first Atchison Porchfest on Saturday, May 7, 2022, when performances were held on the 700, 800 and 900 blocks of N. 4th Street. By 2023, the festival had expanded to the 400 block of Riley Street and the Cray Museum. Project Atchison described the 2025 edition as the Fourth Annual Atchison Porchfest and placed it near the intersection of 4th Street and Riley Street, showing how the footprint has widened while staying rooted in the same historic corridor.
For Project Atchison, Porchfest fits a broader effort to improve quality of life through volunteerism, service projects and neighborhood activation. Monthly meetups at Servaes Brewing Company are part of that wider civic calendar, but Porchfest is the piece that turns the organization’s mission into a public, walkable experience. On May 9, 4th Street will again serve as a civic open house, with music, porches and people giving downtown Atchison a visible boost.
