Daniels named new Raven volleyball coach at Maur Hill-Mount Academy

Maur Hill-Mount Academy put a former Raven back at the center of its volleyball program, naming Malia DuLac Daniels as the new head coach and giving next season’s players a familiar voice before summer workouts begin.

The hire matters because volleyball at MH-MA has been built on continuity, and Daniels now inherits the day-to-day decisions that shape offseason preparation, practice structure and preseason expectations. For players, that means the program’s next steps will be led by someone who already knows the school, the uniform and the demands that come with representing the Ravens in Atchison County.

Daniels is a 2021 Maur Hill-Mount Academy graduate and former player, which makes this a homegrown move rather than an outside search. That background gives her immediate credibility with athletes and families who want to see the program carry forward the standards already in place at the Catholic, college-preparatory boarding school at 1000 Green Street in Atchison.

The Ravens enter that transition from a position of strength. Maur Hill-Mount Academy volleyball had been described as experiencing a resurgence under Sara Noll, who helped lead the program over the past five years. One recent stretch included a 10-1 start and a 5-0 run to the McLouth Invitational Tournament championship, a sign that the program has been competitive and organized enough to set a high bar for the next coach.

That recent success gives Daniels a solid base to work from, but it also raises the stakes. The next phase will center on how quickly she can establish her own routines, identify returners who can anchor the roster and keep the Ravens competitive against the schools they see in the fall. In a small-school setting, even one coaching change can affect how players train, how parents read the direction of the program and how quickly a team finds its rhythm.
