Deadline nears to register for Alabama's Aug. 11 special primary

Autauga County voters have until Monday, July 27, 2026, to register for Alabama’s Aug. 11 special primary election. The contest covers U.S. House Districts 1, 2, 6 and 7 and reaches 40 of the state’s 67 counties.

Prattville and Autauga County residents can register online through the Alabama Secretary of State’s voter registration site or in person at the Autauga County Probate Office, 176 W 5th Street in Prattville. The office’s contact number is (334) 361-3728, and the county’s voting page links to the state site to confirm registration or find a polling location.

The Secretary of State’s VoterView tool lets voters confirm registration status, ballot status, polling location and address after a move, name change or mailing-address update. An old address, a name that no longer matches state records, or assuming a registration updated itself after a move are the mistakes most likely to sideline a voter.

The special primary is a redo of primary elections for the affected districts, with the redraw reaching all of south Alabama and large parts of central Alabama, including most of metropolitan Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Dothan and the Black Belt.

If you plan to vote absentee, mail-delivered applications must be received in the absentee election manager’s office no later than 7 days before the election.
