The City of Millbrook will welcome residents and visitors this week for its annual holiday events, beginning with the Spirit of Christmas Community Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 4 at Village Green Park and continuing with a Festival and Parade on Saturday, December 6. The city said there is no admission charge for any activities and that families can expect festive décor, themed activities, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and live entertainment.

Tree lighting festivities on December 4 will open at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks on site and opportunities for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Organizers plan to light the city tree at 6:00 p.m. Weather forecasts predict snow during the evening, which organizers presented as an added seasonal touch. The main Festival on December 6 runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Village Green, with vendor booths, live performances, food trucks, and family photos with Santa available throughout the day. The Christmas Parade will step off at 2:00 p.m. featuring floats, marching bands, and community groups, with the Millbrook Public Library serving as this year s Grand Marshal.

Danae Morgan, Director of Cultural Arts and Special Events for the City of Millbrook, said, "the theme is intended to spark wonder and bring the community together." That emphasis on community comes with tangible local effects. Free public events like these typically draw area families into downtown spaces, increasing traffic for food vendors and small businesses and creating opportunities for local artists and nonprofit groups to showcase their work. For a county with a mix of suburban neighborhoods and small business owners, the festival provides seasonal sales potential and visibility that can matter during the holiday retail period.

Residents should plan for increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic around Village Green on both event days and arrive early if they want preferred parking or seating for the parade.
