Prattville Lions Baseball Surges to 15-1 Start Through 16 Games
The Prattville Lions baseball team went 15-1 through their first 16 games, including a dominant 10-2 win over rival Stanhope Elmore.

The Prattville Lions baseball team turned a painful 12-23 season into one of the hottest starts in Autauga County in recent memory, opening 2026 at 15-1 through their first 16 games. A 10-2 victory over Stanhope Elmore was among the recent highlights, underscoring just how dramatically the Lions have flipped the script from a year ago.
That 2025 campaign was a trial by fire in Class 7A Area 5, one of the toughest competitive brackets in the state. The Lions lost only one starter from that group: Mason Piper, who had been both the team's leading hitter and its ace pitcher. Returning nearly everyone else meant carrying genuine experience into this spring, and the 15-1 record suggests that experience has paid immediate dividends.
The backbone of the turnaround runs through Prattville's senior class. Outfielder Dorsett Jackson, committed to Shelton State Community College, slots into the middle of the order and brings power alongside steady defense in right field. Shortstop Aiden Urnis, headed to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, anchors the infield with a strong arm while also projecting as a key run producer. Catcher Sean Smith, committed to Itawamba Community College, gives Prattville a switch-hitting threat behind the plate and handles a pitching staff that has clearly been sharp through the first month.

That pitching staff carries real depth. Right-hander Paxton Genola works in the mid-80s and provides a power arm for late-game situations. Chris Hardaway, a right-hander who also plays first base, is a reliable strike-thrower expected to factor into the starting rotation. Holt Stovall, a three-year starter who plays both outfield and pitches, figures to log significant innings and give the staff experience and stability. Andrew Kincaid, a junior right-hander who started games last season, returns to eat up innings, while utility player Christian Alexander, another three-year starter, gives head coach's staff versatility across multiple spots.
Prattville's underclass group adds further depth and long-term optimism. Left-hander AJ Kramer is a sophomore-to-be in the class of 2029. Third baseman and pitcher Will McKay, outfielders Aiden Bradley and Tyler Blanchard, catcher Nick Kramer, and infielders BJ Mangum and Layton Lawrence round out a 2027-2028 group that figures to push for playing time and strengthen Prattville's roster for years ahead.

After a year spent growing up fast in one of Class 7A's most unforgiving areas, the Lions entered 2026 believing they were far better equipped to compete in Area 5. Fifteen wins in their first 16 games suggest that belief was well-founded.
