Prattville star Deshawn Hall visits Penn State, experts predict commitment

Penn State's push for Prattville High School wide receiver Deshawn Hall turned into a major recruiting signal when the 6-foot-5 junior completed an official visit to State College and multiple recruiting analysts posted 100% crystal-ball predictions for the Nittany Lions. For Autauga County, the attention matters because Hall is not just another prospect on a summer tour circuit; he is one of Alabama’s highest-rated 2027 players and a name that could tell national programs how far Prattville talent can travel.

Hall is listed by 247Sports as the No. 202 overall recruit in the country, the No. 25 wide receiver nationally and the No. 10 prospect in Alabama in the 2027 class. The Prattville standout is also listed at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, a frame that has drawn heavy Power Four interest. His offer sheet already includes Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Louisville, North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, UAB, UConn, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, among others.

The Penn State trip came after Hall had already become a priority on several big-board lists. 247Sports had discussed a possible Penn State official visit in late March and described the Nittany Lions as an important contender in his recruitment. That momentum showed up again over the weekend, when Hall’s June 5 official visit was logged and the Penn State crystal-ball forecast tightened around a likely commitment.

Hall’s path to this point has been swift. He transferred into Prattville for the 2025 season after previously being known as a basketball standout, then delivered 40 catches for 660 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games as a junior. Those numbers, paired with his size and two-sport background, have made him one of the most watched receivers in the state.

The Penn State visit also sits inside a crowded schedule. On3 lists an unofficial stop in Happy Valley on April 2, along with an official visit to Auburn on May 29, an official visit to Alabama set for June 12 and an official visit to Tennessee set for June 19. However Hall ultimately decides, his choice will carry weight in Prattville and beyond. A Penn State commitment would signal that one of the nation’s major programs sees Autauga County as a source of elite receiving talent, and that Hall’s recruitment has moved from promising to program-defining.
