Baker Boys Golf Finishes Fifth at Season-Opening Homedale Tournament

Eli Long opened his season with a 75, tying for fourth place and pacing the Baker High School boys golf team to a fifth-place finish at the season-opening tournament in Homedale, Idaho, on Wednesday, March 18.

Jace Whitford added a 78 to finish eighth individually. Cedar Hassmiller rounded out Baker's four scoring contributors with an 84. Under the tournament's scoring format, a team's total is calculated by combining its four best rounds, meaning Hassmiller's 84 was the final score counted toward the Bulldogs' team total.

Kale Dalke shot 102 and Ben Nudd finished at 114, scores that fell outside the team's four-best calculation but represented early-season action for both players. Kimberly, Idaho, claimed the team title with a score of 288.

For Baker's girls program, Jocelyn Bork competed the previous Monday at the Weiser Invitational, carding a 60 for nine holes.

The Bulldogs return to action today at the Wine Valley Invitational at DeSales, Washington, their second tournament of the young season.
