Baker City Galleries Unveil New Works for April First Friday Art Walk

Ten new works by Boise State student Adele Stireman, who developed her artistic practice after overcoming early vision impairment, will open Friday at Matilda's House, 1923 Court Street, headlining Baker City's First Friday Art Walk on April 3.

Stireman's show is the marquee addition to an April circuit that also includes Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, Anders Gallery, and a selection of downtown shops hosting pop-up exhibitions. Gallery receptions begin in the early evening, with artist talks and light refreshments available at participating venues. Most stops are within walking distance of each other, making the route easy to cover on foot.

The 10-piece collection at Matilda's House stands out for its origins: Stireman turned to art as a primary form of expression while navigating life with impaired vision, and the work coming to the 1923 Court Street space reflects that experience directly. For visitors anchoring their evening around a single must-see show, this is the one.

First Friday functions as one of downtown Baker City's steadiest drivers of weeknight activity.
