Baker County Nonprofit MayDay Inc. Pauses Domestic Violence Advocacy Services

MayDay Inc., the Baker County nonprofit that has long served survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, stalking and trafficking, announced Thursday it is temporarily pausing its "direct advocacy services" while the organization works to stabilize its operations.

The pause was announced via press release and reported by the Baker City Herald. The organization, a 501(c)(3) agency funded through federal and state grants, foundations and private donations, said the move is intended to address operational challenges, though the press release did not specify the reasons in detail, nor did it outline an exact timeline for resuming services.

MayDay is based at 2745 Broadway Street in Baker City. Its mission, as stated on its website, is to advocate "for freedom from all forms of abuse through its prevention, education and support services to all community members." The organization has pledged confidentiality to its clients, stating that information shared with MayDay "will not be shared with anyone without your written and explicit permission."
