Baker High School Student Ella Wilde Earns $2,000 Oregon Wheat Growers Scholarship
Baker High School senior Ella Wilde won a $2,000 Oregon Wheat Foundation scholarship, one of only 12 awarded statewide to graduating seniors with ties to the wheat industry.

Ella Wilde, a Baker High School student, was named one of twelve recipients of an Oregon Wheat Foundation scholarship, earning a $2,000 award. The foundation awards up to twelve scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating high school seniors in Oregon.
Scholarship winners are selected on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, and an essay on the wheat industry. Wilde submitted an essay titled "From Field to Table: How the Wheat Industry Supports Rural Communities" as part of her application. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, must be the child of a grower member of the Oregon Wheat Growers League or have a parent/guardian employed by a grower member, or have worked summers for a grower member, and must be planning to enroll in a university, two-year community college program, or an accredited vocational or technical program.
The 12 recipients and their counties are: Ella Wilde, Baker County; Ryder Steward, Gilliam County; Addie Saunders, Malheur County; Sophia Seeder, Marion County; Madison Cranston and Addison Smith, Sherman County; Hunter Hansell, Umatilla County; Keira Counsell and Taylor Weishaar, Union County; Owyhee Harguess and Katelynn Melville, Wallowa County; and George Barnett, Wasco County.

"The Oregon Wheat Foundation is pleased to support such an exceptional group of students this year," said Amanda Hoey, Oregon Wheat CEO. "These students have a deep commitment to their communities and a bright future."
The Oregon Wheat Foundation was formed in 1980 to promote Oregon's wheat industry and raises money for specific projects, including its scholarship program. More information on the scholarship program is available at owgl.org.
