Marissa Nadler Brings Dreamy Folk Sound to Baker City March 31
Marissa Nadler, on her largest U.S. tour ever, brings her "hypnotizing" folk sound to Churchill School on March 31 with opener Anand Wilder of Yeasayer.

A Nashville-based singer-songwriter who teaches art at a special needs therapeutic school by day and paints every night is bringing what she calls a "hypnotizing" sound to Baker City next week. Marissa Nadler performs Tuesday, March 31, at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St., with Anand Wilder opening. Doors open at 6 p.m. and music begins at 6:45 p.m.
Nadler describes her style as "an amalgamation of a lot of different styles," though she said "dreamy" and "ethereal" capture it well enough. "My music has been described as haunting," she said. "I've gravitated toward beautiful, slow ballads my whole career." The Baker City show is one stop on her current 40-date U.S. tour, the largest she has ever mounted. She ran the East Coast first, took a week at home, then turned west.
The tour supports "New Radiations," her 10th full-length album, released Aug. 15, 2025. Nadler has more than 20 years of touring behind her, a career she began by picking up the guitar at age 12 and writing songs in high school. She studied painting and illustration in college, earned a master's in art education, released her first record straight out of college, and spent time teaching art in Harlem before eventually settling in Nashville, where she has lived for about seven years. Alongside her music career, she currently teaches art at a special needs therapeutic school and leads night art classes for adults. "I find it very rewarding," she said of teaching. "And I still paint every single day."

Wilder, who co-founded the indie rock band Yeasayer, released his solo album "I Don't Know My Words" in 2022.
