Two Anthony Lakes Skiers Head to Western U.S. High School Championships in Colorado
Baker High junior Cadence Brown and Imbler freshman Kaeden Delint are competing at Loveland Ski Area in Colorado after qualifying at the Oregon state meet.

Cadence Brown and Kaeden Delint carried northeastern Oregon's colors onto the slopes at Loveland Ski Area in Colorado this week, competing in the Western U.S. High School Skiing Championships after earning their spots at the Oregon state meet earlier this month.
Brown, a junior at Baker High School, and Delint, a freshman from Imbler, are both members of the Anthony Lakes Ski Team. They qualified for the Colorado event based on their performances at the Oregon state high school championships at Mt. Hood Meadows, where Brown placed 19th overall in the combined giant slalom and slalom standings and Delint finished 27th.
The four-day championships at Loveland ran March 15-18, opening with a training day Sunday before competition began. Brown raced in the girls giant slalom on Monday, March 16. Delint's boys giant slalom was scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, with both boys and girls slalom races set to close out the event Wednesday, March 18.
The trip to Colorado represents a significant step for both athletes, particularly for Delint, whose 27th-place finish at state as a freshman was enough to earn a berth in the regional field. Brown's 19th-place combined finish placed her solidly in qualifying range for the championships.

Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort, the home mountain for both skiers' team, has a busy stretch of events ahead regardless of how the Colorado races conclude. The 12th annual Taste of Nordic takes place Sunday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the resort, where vendors offer food and beverages priced by tokens along the cross-country trails. Tokens are $4 each, trail passes are $20, or $10 for ages 7-11, and ski or snowshoe rentals run $25.
"We invite everyone to come up for Taste of Nordic," said Chelsea Judy, Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort's marketing director. "It's a great way to get your family outside and enjoy local food and beverages. The scenery is pretty great too."
The following weekend, Broadway Blast returns March 28-29 as a fundraiser for the Anthony Lakes Ski Racing Association. The two-day event features a Super-G at 10 a.m. ($30), a Nordic Sprint at 9:30 a.m. ($15), and a Gelande Jump at 10:30 a.m. ($15), and is open to all ages. Registration closes March 26 at anthonylakesskirace.org.
